Does your child struggle to remember things? Does your teen cram for tests and exams only to “blank out” on test day? Memory is a complex, fascinating, and beautiful skill made possible by the human brain. Knowing how the brain works to make memories, and retrieve them, is the first step in understanding how remembering can be strengthened. There’s lots of information for adults that demystifies memory—and offers cool strategies, too! But when it comes to kids, information is mostly absent. I want to change that.

Hippo Camp Kids© will provide you with child-friendly resources about the brain and remembering that you can use with children and teens, as a parent, teacher, caregiver, or clinician. It will offer information designed for you, too, so you can step back and think about memory based on science. Not everything needs to be stored in the brain; sometimes letting pencil-and-paper lists, phones, and other technology do the remembering is most helpful for you and your child. Being smart about memory—based on what we know from science—is key.

Hippo Camp Kids© is just getting started!

My Dad taught me something vital about memory in early elementary school. His insight changed my life, igniting a passion for memory science that has never wavered.
